Stars Align Against Covid-19

The world’s top names in music, fashion, art, and music are collaborating on projects to help curb the effects of the Covid-19 virus around the world.

Celebrities Use Fame For Good. Whilst some have simply taken to social media to help raise awareness of important issues, Covid-19 virus around the world. Others have repurposed existing charitable initiatives or created new foundations to tackle the crisis.

On the fashion front, Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour and designer Tom Ford have refocused the 2020 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund (CVFF) on those fashion industry workers and businesses “whose livelihoods have been impacted by this pandemic”.

They are accompanied by Rita Ora who has joined forces with the WHO, the UN Foundation and Live Aid rock legend Sir Bob Geldof to launch a new range of merchandise intended to raise awareness and funds for the Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

The collaboration features a new co-designed emblem which they hope will serve as an important image for rallying support around the cause. 

British model and activist Adwoa Aboah has launched Coping Together, an initiative with her online platform Gurls Talk, aimed at helping people feel anxious during these ‘uncertain times’, amid the coronavirus pandemic.

She encourages all to: “join in submitting art, videos, photos, poetry, essays, journal entries, humor – anything that helps you process your emotions” via her Instagram account.

Meanwhile, in the USA, Arnold Schwarzenegger announced a partnership with social-media app Tik Tok and his non-profit After-School All-Stars (ASAS).

The app will donate $3m to help ASAS provide millions of meals to families across the US who’ve been affected by school closures due to Covid-19.  

Actors Jennifer Garner and Amy Adams are also focused on helping children across America, partnering with Scholastic to launch #SAVEWITHSTORIES. They aim to “’make sure kids can learn and get the nutrition they need while they’re out of school and every day of the year”.

#SAVEWITHSTORIES will see the actors share their favourite books and stories on social media, asking friends to do the same. All donations will go to Save the Children and Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign.
