New York Fashion Week: The Designers Debuting

February 12, 2022 Share

New York Fashion Week is here again. Taking on a hybrid format of both in-person and digital displays.

And just like that, New York Fashion Week is here again. Taking on a hybrid format of both in-person and digital displays, NYFW is set to feature some of our favourite household names. But apologies to Tom, Tommy, and Ralph, this year there’s a new generation of designers shaping the look of American fashion. They’re couture-inspired, one-of-a-kind, inclusive and technologically enhanced, but most importantly, democratic.

One silver lining of the pandemic was that it provided designers with more time and space to get creative. Here are six of the designers that we’re excited to see making their NYFW debuts this week.

Interior, a New York-based luxury womenswear brand launched in 2020 (thanks Covid) by Jack Miner and Lily Miesmer, will make its NYFW debut with a showcase on February 15. It was part of Net-a-Porter’s Vanguard incubator programme and features timeless, elevated day and evening apparel.

Judy Turner

First conceived in 2018 by founder and creative director Conley Averett, Judy Turner is a unisex knitwear brand based in New York. Nordstrom and Ssense are among their stockists, carrying the brand’s jumpers, trousers, accessories, and more. On February 16, the company will unveil their Fall 2022 collection. And we’re excited.

Tanner Fletcher

Tanner Fletcher is a genderless label founded in Brooklyn in 2020 (thank you again, Covid) by Tanner Richie and Fletcher Kasell, who are both business and life partners. Tanner Fletcher is inspired by their love of New York and interior design. They’ll display a combination of clothing and household goods in a presentation format on February 15.

Lisa Von Tang

Lisa Von Tang is a premium streetwear designer from Singapore who is most noted for her work in the film Crazy Rich Asians. With a runway show on February 15, she’ll be making her New York Fashion Week debut.

Bach Mai

Bach Mai, a Parsons graduate and Houston native who has worked at Oscar de la Renta and Maison Margiela under John Galliano, is sure to see his creations on the red carpet for years to come. With the debut of his current collection, the designer will bring some much-needed couture to New York Fashion Week.

July Li

July Li is a fashion brand founded in 2020 (and for the last time, let’s thank the pandemic) by designer Zhexin (July) Li with the goal of redefining the knitwear space. From see-through crop tops and flowing skirts to ’70s-style flares and more, you can expect to see it all.
