Julia Fox Makes Her Runway Debut At NYFW

February 17, 2022 Share

Julia Fox is everywhere at the moment.

In terms of runway debuts, Julia Fox‘s timing couldn’t have been better. The Uncut Gems actress opened LaQuan Smith‘s autumn/winter 2022 show at New York Fashion Week only hours after announcing the end of her extremely public romance with Kanye “Ye” West on Valentine’s Day no less.

She appeared on the catwalk to a chorus of cheers, wearing more heavy eyeliner and a cut-out, bodycon design that the New York Times declared “the ultimate revenge dress.”

It didn’t matter that it started one hour late, because Fox strutting down the makeshift runway at an old downtown private member’s club, dressed in a black satin gown with raunchy cut-outs across the chest, creating a pop culture moment that coincided with Ye having Valentine’s flowers delivered to Kim Kardashian

Smith has acquired an enormous and devoted celebrity following since the launch of his eponymous label in 2013, with fans including Beyoncé, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Kim Kardashian. With a plethora of A-list clients and a reputation as a designer who delights in red-carpet glamour, it seems only right that he start his display with the tabloids’ current obsession.

The designer began his career in fashion by assisting stylist Elizabeth Sulcer, who has worked with and dressed some of the most stylish models in the industry, from Elsa Hosk and Stella Maxwell, to the Hadid sisters.

Fox declared herself a “#1 hustler” in a now-deleted statement confirming the split, saying she’d shed no tears over Ye, contrary to what some gossip sites had been saying, and her fiery runway performance seemed to support that fact. While flowers arrived at Casa Kim, Julia upped the ante on drama.

“Julia has been my girl from day one,” Smith told WWD of booking the Uncut Gems actress for his show. “She always comes to me for a nasty catsuit for a night out on the town and it just felt kind of pressy and gaggy”

We couldn’t agree more – it certainly eas pressy and gaggy. And during a quiet show season in NY, this PR stunt securely placed Smith firmly on the global fashion map. It was, without a doubt, the mark of two hustlers.
